Gretsch has redesigned the Microsensitive strainer and it is fantastic! The new strainer eliminates all of the issues associated with the old style strainer used in the 50s and 60s. The new version has solid internal mechanisms for smooth, trouble-free operation. Now the basball bat style arm is now an integral part of the assembly, rather than a part that is screwed in. This was a very weak point where the parts would break on the old strainers. This is now a thing of the past. Also, a push button has been added on the top of the strainer arm. The strainer locks in place when engaged, and you push the button to disengage the arm. The butt plate that goes along with this strainer can either be the current style used on USA custom drums, or the single node adjustable butt plate shown here, that is essentially the same as the design from the 50s era drums. And, extra good news: The strainer holes line up with the originals so these strainers can be used as reproduction parts for your vintage Gretsch round badge snares!

Gretsch USA’s Custom Microsensitive throw off and butt plate are a modern update to the classic Gretsch Microsensitive from the 1950’s and 60’s. Both products are made from heavy-duty zinc alloy and fit the original hole patterns, allowing drummers to retrofit their original throw off/butt. The Microsensitive system is dual tensioning. Macro adjustments are made by the small knob on the butt plate, while ultra fine micro adjustments can be made by the large knob on the throw off side. The solid die cast lever features a locking button to secure snare wire engagement. The butt plate attaches to the shell with a single post. Both pieces use key screws for the strainer plate.
