Both shows are included in Saturday's ticket. *Just added! Drum Set Solo contest both days. Stay tuned for details The annual Nashville Drum Show will take place September 29th and 30th, 2012 at the Nashville Expo Center at the Tennessee state Fairgrounds. Part industry trade show, part swap meet and part entertainment event, the show features exhibits by vintage drum collectors and dealers, custom drum builders, retail drum shops, drum parts wholesalers, and major drum, cymbal & percussion accessory manufacturers from around the world. Several famous performers will appear in concert - country rock pioneers Poco, popular Nashville Allman Brothers tribute band The Midnight Riders, a drum clinic/performance by a famous drummer (TBA – still scheduling), and other popular local and regional bands and drummers. Other features are the annual Snare Drum Olympics contest, the Drum Set Solo contest, and the Vintage Drum Museum exhibit. The show is open to the general public and any one may rent one of the 150 exhibit booths. The Nashville Drum Show is being produced by George Lawrence of Not So Modern Drummer Magazine and Gary Forkum, owner of Fork’s Drum Closet. Daily admission is $15 at the door or in advance. All details concerning exhibitor registration, tickets, schedules and contests can be seen and downloaded online at NotSoModernDrummer.com/events or contact George Lawrence at george@notsomoderndrummer.com, 330 338 6035 This event began in 1996 as the Not So Modern Drummer Vintage Drum Show, with a small number of exhibitors and attendees. In 1998 John Aldridge, the founding publisher of Not So Modern Drummer, added the Snare Drum Olympics– a contest to showcase, publicize and promote high end snare drums built by major drum manufacturers and small custom drum builders. The show and contest were held during the same week as Summer Namm Show in Nashville up until this year when it was moved to a later, cooler date in the Fall, renamed the Nashville Drum Show and reloacted to the larger fairgrounds venue. This drum show is now one of the biggest in the nation, rivaling the Hollywood Drum Show and the Chicago Drum Show. Not So Modern Drummer Magazine is the world’s first vintage and custom drum magazine. Started in 1988 as a four page newsletter, it has grown into a major monthly print and digital publication that also reviews and advertises current drum manufacturers, and a popular research and bluebook website. It is now also the parent company of the Not So Modern Drum Company featuring metal snare drums engraved by John Aldridge, and the Famous Drum Company featuring new designs in snare drums by woodworking artist Joe Partridge.

The 2012 Not So Modern Drummer Snare Drum Olympics

The Not So Modern Drummer Snare Drum Olympics was started by NSMD editor/publisher John Aldridge in 1998 as "basically an excuse to get a bunch of really cool drums into one room at the same time". It has turned into an international showcase for the best snare drums in the world. It is a huge publicity event that has been heavily promoted by the major drum magazines, online drum sites and has gone viral on YouTube. Whether you are a custom builder or a major manufacturer, this is a chance to get your cream of the crop instruments into the spotlight, with very minimal cost. Can instruments be objectively judged? Of course not BUT the scrutiny and reactions of the judges and the public has been highly entertaining and attracts a lot of drummers' eyeballs! $50.00 Click here for more information

Montreal Drum Fest

Amazing, isn't it? Way back when we were lighting the candles to celebrate our first birthday, you weren't even a twinkle in your parents' eyes. And you are the key. The reason we're still aglow with drumming passion is you. Your talent, your raw enthusiasm for drumming—whether you're 16 or 66—keep us going. To be sure, this is a lifelong pursuit. We all have something to add. The Montréal Drum Fest 2012 features a fine blend of veteran drumming savvy and youthful raw talent. That's the way it's been since day one and that's the way it's going to be as we venture together into the future. So welcome to our 20th year, our last as an adolescent. Don't worry. We won't get old and creaky for one basic reason: You will keep us on our toes.
