5x14 Jazz Festival model 908, 1971 in Psychedelic Red
From the Mid 1960’s on, Ludwig made a lot more metal snare drums than wood drums. Business was booming and wood snares took more time to build, so Ludwig made the labor and cost cutting choice to offer most drumsets with metal shell snare drums. Of course you could order a set with a matching snare drum, but that was not the norm.
