This 6.5”x14” Curly Maple Snare Drum is a 1/4” thick, steam-bent, single-ply curly maple snare drum with matching 1/4” thick reinforcement rings. It comes in a lacquer finish, has 45° bearing edges with a 1/8” outer round over and Famous standard 3/16” deep snare beds (3” flat and 2” tapers). It is outfitted with gold hardware (8 die-cast lugs, vent hole, 2.3mm triple flanged hoops, tension rods, strainer/adjustable tension butt plate), Evans puresound 20 strand snare wires, an Evans UV1 batter head and Evans 300 snare side head. $1000 plus shipping.
The Famous Drum Company is owned by Evan Thomas and George Lawrence. The single ply steam bent shells are made from scratch by Evan in his wood working shop in Phoenix. They rival the single ply shells made by Craviotto, Noble and Cooley and Slingerland Radio King. Our drums are half the price of other single ply drums. We also make raw shells for drum builders. While our stock drums use the standard hardware and heads that you see in the pictures above, we also offer a variety of hardware and drum heads for those who want something a bit different.
