WIW? Ludwig Imperials?

Got something that you want to ask the community what’s it worth? Send it in and we’ll post it here. – NSMD NSMD,

I am very interested in purchasing a drum but I'm not certain who made it. I consider myself to have decent vintage knowledge but not after seeing this one. The shell has no name or stamp on it what so ever. Also very strange is that there is no center bead in the shell. It has no extra holes drilled in it. The lugs appear to be late 30's Ludwig Imperials. The strainer also looks to be Ludwig, later 20's to early 30's. There is a welded seam on the interior of the shell. Can you please help or give me an idea of what type of shell it might be.

Thanks, Lance

Rick Latham's Polish Snare Drum

We got this question from Rick Latham as he was ending his summer tour in Europe. Can any of you help us out here? - NSMD:  Hi George, Greetings brother from the Black Forest of Germany! Hope you are doing well. I'm nearing the end of a three month tour here in Europe - Germany, Italy, France, Poland, Switzerland... all great! I ran across this drum in a drum shop in Poznan, Poland and the guys are curious if it's anything cool - or maybe a bastardized-something-weird? Ha! I told them if anyone would know, it would be you - so give it your best shot.

1929-1935 Ludwig Super Sensitive

Antone Lourenco of Aantone's Music sent me this one to appraise...

What is this drum worth?

Hey Antone, That is the first model of the Ludwig Super Sensitive snare made between 1929 and 1935. Not to be confused with the first model with a parallel strainer, the Super Ludwig that debuted in 1925. The Super Sensitive has the extra snares under the top head.  I'd estimate the value at $2000 if it's in great cosmetic and working condition which it looks like it is. Do you mind if I post this on the Not So Modern Drummer site? Beautiful finish and inlay. Is it for sale?

Well known snare collector Mike Curotto said $1,500 to $2,000.
