ParUmPaPumPum Charity and Museum is now a registered charity →

NSMD’s Parumpumpumpum Charity and Museum has filed with the State of Tennessee and the IRS to be a 501 C3 registered charity which means we will now be able to give receipts for tax deductible donations of money and instruments. I’ve been talking about doing this for years, since the first campaign in 1999 to provide drums for inner city students at the W.O. Smith Music School. There have been various campaigns and donations of drums and money over the years and the donors never pressed the issue of tax deductions. We have several donations of vintage drums that are requesting it, so here we go! My wife, Georgetta, and I are the incorporators and we are forming a board of directors and a board of advisors. Georgetta will be the bookkeeper for the organization.

The other big news is that the Drum Museum is looking for a building in Memphis. It has been housed in various places; in George’s Drum Shop in Akron, Ohio in the 2000s, and at the offices of Not So Modern Drummer in Nashville TN. Since moving to Memphis, I have been looking for a building to house the collection and drums that are donated for the charity campaigns. The donations of instruments is increasing and outgrowing the NSMD office. I have talked about forming a co-op with some other drum related businesses to share it. While not open to the public with regular hours, private tours by appointment can be made. The online museum is presently under re-construction and will be back live soon. We will also list any future drum shows where we will exhibit some of the Museum drums.

Information about instrument and cash tax deductible donations, future and past campaigns and exhibits will be posted soon here https://www.notsomoderndrummer.com/#/museum and at our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/134191927199104/
