Here is an exceptional Marcel FAIVRE full dress drumset, maybe a unique drums…
The brand :
Marcel Faivre wasn't a drum manufacturer, but a music store… He had made instruments by other instrument makers, and put his store badge… Very few informations circulates on this brand, only a 40 / 50s poster to advertise this store instruments, and 2 addresses: Marcel FAIVRE Pigall's Swing (Pigalle district in Paris), and Marcel FAIVRE Vincennes Swing (near Parisian's suburbs).
The drum set :
Probably a special order... a "custom" drumset as we say today. This drumset was manufactured by METJAZZ brand (Jean Metzger drum maker), whose specialty was those very decorated drumsets, very fashionable in France from the 30s to the early 50s…
It needed to be completely restored: lost of rust, lifted off wrap, cotton wires electrical system, missing brilliants, missing parts, etc… missing floor tom legs to create, and the owner wanting adjustable legs. The resonance head was protected by a burlap, which perfectly preserve the hand painted head with the original logo. A miracle!
Particular dimensions 11'' 13'' 25.5'' & 13.7''... 3-ply shells, with re-ring and rounded bearing edge... And mostly, this awesome luxury decoration...
