Vintage 1929-30 Leedy Drum Set and Traps with detailed Explanations: The Frank Gomes Memorial Drum Set

Thanks to Bob Meyer, jazz drummer, for sharing his knowledge of drums and drumming in this new column. Bob has almost 60 years professional playing experience with the likes of Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Stanley Cowell, Art Dave, Red Rodney, and many other jazz greats as well as up and coming young jazz stars. He also has over 40 years teaching experience in everything from basics to advanced jazz musical and set drumming concepts.

In this video. Bob takes us on a tour of what instruments a pro drummer in the 1930s would have been using at a vaudeville/film theatre or at a dixieland jazz gig, and how they would be played. WARNING, Bob’s voice is very low and the drums are very loud, so keep your hand on the volume knob and play sound man.
