The Sung-Unsung Hero for this month is South African born drummer, Anton Fig. Anton hit the kit at age four, and hasn’t looked back since. His formal education included studies at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, studying both jazz and classical disciplines graduating with Honors in 1975. In 1976 he moved to New York where he began to establish a career as a freelance musician.

For 22 years, from 1993 to 2015 he was the house drummer on the 'Late Show with David Letterman'. during those years he has played with scores of great artists including Miles Davis, James Brown, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Winwood, Bonnie Raitt and Tony Bennett, just to name a few.

As well as being a much sought-after session drummer, as of this writing, Anton is also the touring drummer with Joe Bonamassa.

Anton plays Yamaha drums and Zildjian cymbals.
