Aaron Latos Hand Crafted Brass Snare Drum

Aaron Latos is a young drum maker from Newburgh, NY who is making hand crafted nickel/brass snare drums. This particular shell is a rolled cylinder. He has other designs. The rims and lugs hand crafted and are beefy. Only the Inde strainer [he is designing his own] and the tension rods are manufactured. The dimensions are 6&1/2" x 14" and its HEAVY! The feel is very robust and the sound is very open and full with a crisp center attack. I'm using a Kentville (Australia) kangaroo skin batter head (10mm) and a Remo resonate head with a vintage set of Gretsch Responso 20 strand wires. It's a modern sound different from my usual predilection for playing modern music on vintage snare drums, sets and cymbals. In a word, I LOVE it! https://www.latosdrums.com/
