The year has blown by so quickly. It seems like the years are passing more swiftly the older I get. I think I remember my parents mentioning this phenomenon when I was a wee little drummer boy. I never realized how right they were until I grew up. I am thankful my mother always supported me in my desire to be a drummer and play music in a band. She purchased equipment for me and the band, provided us with transportation to gigs, mostly birthday parties and the like. She also built a building that we could use for rehearsals. I miss my mom and just wanted to praise her for what she did for her musician son during his younger days. I could say so much about her, but I just hope she knows how very much I appreciate what she did for me.

I love Ludwig drums and have many great Ludwig sets of all configurations, shell materials, and finishes. I am most fond of Ludwig three ply shells with reinforcement rings. I also especially like the Classic four piece set up. The set I am featuring this month is a 1970s Classic four piece 22,13,16 set with three ply shells. This beautiful kit is wrapped in Sky Blue Pearl. The blue color is still vibrant in the near perfect wrap. Some of the kits with this finish will become grey with age and fading.  This set has clear interiors and Blue and Olive Badges. The snare is a 5X14 Supraphonic. This drum kit is over all in very nice condition. The Sky Blue Pearl wrap is so pretty, and the drums sound very good with coated single ply heads on the tops and clear single ply resonant heads on the bottoms.

I was able to purchase this set from a good reputable collector who listed them for sale on Facebook. It's a good place to find some lovely drums and get great deals. All the fees connected with E-Bay and Reverb are eliminated.  Of course, there has to be some caution when dealing with people you don't know. Ask other collectors about the reputation of buyers and sellers before making deals. Always check out drumsellers.com when selling or purchasing a drum set. You will definitely be dealing with good people, pay low fees, and feel safer. George Lawrence, our editor and watch dog, will make sure you will not be taken by a scammer. Have a great and prosperous New Year. Keep collecting and playing those fantastic vintage drums.
