I am so happy to share this completed restoration! Please allow me to introduce you to my right-out-of-the-very-first 1928 Slingerland catalog, a 6.5” x 14” No. 123 Tone Flange Sea Green Pearl Finish Artist Model Snare Drum.

This snare is one beautiful massive heavy beast!!! When I acquired this drum a few weeks back it arrived in its original hard case but it was missing the brass flange, ring and bearing edge screws. A friend suggested I ask Mike Curotto. Luckily Mike had an original solid brass flange, ring and screws and, after a deal was struck, shipped them right out to me, thanks Mike!

So after a full disassembly, clean, polish, tons of hand polishing, oiling, wood nourishing and brand new proper-fitting Remo Vintage-Fit Coated Ambassador & Hazy Heads it was finally assembly time!
Everything went together smoothly and seamlessly, now it’s back to its original perfection for the first time in many, many decades. Yes, I will play this drum as it was meant to be and enjoy its authentic vintage sound.
This was a labor of love, and this drum deserved it!
Stay tuned…
