My new book, The Missing Rudiments, is on sale as a printable pdf down load now in the NotSoModernDrummer Store. An excerpt from the book is in this month’s emailed issue. A free review copy is available to press and any professional drummers who want to write a review or endorsement. It is also available to my current and former students for free. Print books available soon. Email me about that.

Thank you all for bearing with me for skipping a month. The last emailed issue was the July/August issue sent on August 5. Monthly issues will resume from this point on. I did not get to all the articles that were submitted so I apologize to those writers. Next month! My plate was just too full in late July and August with moving to a new house on a moment’s notice of its availability, in the heat wave, and with Georgetta and me working full time.

We only moved five blocks away but we did it ourselves one carload at a time. Whew! We needed to downsize from 1800 sq. ft, to 1000. We are very happy in our new place but we had ten pounds of *#@* that would not fit in this new five pound bag of a house so a lot of stuff got sold, given away to friend and relatives, thrown away, donated to GoodWill or put out on the curb. Drums, a piano furniture, old documents, memorabilia, etc. Definitely the biggest “thinning of the herd” I’ve ever done. Amazing how much “stuff” accumulates over the decades. One of the lighter moments was watching this kid on an old retro banana bike stop at the pile of drum heads I had put out on the curb. He nonchalantly picked up three or four heads and held them in his right hand while he steered with his left and rode on down the street. I figured those heads would end up on either his drum set or his bedroom wall. Cool.

On Sale! The 29 back issue collection, $50 including shipping. This is the lowest price yet on the Not So Modern Drummer print magazine collection.
