From editor George Lawrence

Welcome to new writer Jim Pettit, well known expert vintage drum collector, and owner of Memphis Drum Shop! Jim has an extensive collection of vintage and rare drums that he will be sharing with us.

Welcome to new DrumSellers.com retailer and manufacturers - Explorer’s Percussion, Siers Practice Pad for Brushes, and No Nuts Cymbal Sleeves/Sizzle Nuts/Cymrings.

Wes Faulconer’s Explorer’s Percussion has been in business for 36 years and is one of the most respected drum shops in the U.S. Wes and employee Sam are posting a good number of vintage and rare drums, cymbals, parts and accessories at DrumSellers.

Pete Siers is making a very cool lightweight portable brush practice pad that he is selling on DrumSellers.com. He send me one to check out and I was very impressed.

The No Nuts Cymbal Mounting System is an improvement on the traditional metal washer/felt/sleeve/wingnut. The new trend is to use no top felt or wing nut on cymbal stands (what was the purpose of those anyway? I haven’t used them for years).

The revised NSMD advertising and review policy kicks in this November. Retail, corporate and independent manufacturers like those above get special advertising and review considerations for posting their new and used products on DrumSellers.com. Call me to discuss the details about how I can help you sell your products and merchandise on DrumSellers and NSMD. NSMD does not beg for ad money anymore but, instead, helps you sell your wares. We don’t get paid until you sell something.

There is a new feature on the front page of NotSoModernDrummer.com: ‘Research and Resources’ If you are looking to identify a drum or do some digging about drum history, values, etc., these links are a good place to start. If you would like for your vintage drum information site to be listed here, please send me an email; george@notsomoderndrummer.com. Your site or page needs to have drum info, history, collections, collected images, etc., not just sales. So far the sites that are listed are:

http://www.3rdand4thdrums.com/drummers-guide-to-buying-vintage-drums basic advice about buying used drums from Edwin Rivera
DrumArchive.com, a site listing of all the historic drum brands with scans of catalog pages. Contact them to add info and images.
VintageDrumGuide.com David Anfuso’s site with lots of info about mostly American brands, many catalog scans, some tips on restoration and repair, and a very active forum.
CoopersVintageDrums.com Author and Collector Mark Cooper’s sales and info site; lots of images, history, catalog scans, and info. great site
How to pack and ship a drum set a video with instructions. This company, Sound Pure, also sells a drum shipping kit with boxes, bubble wrap, etc.
VintageDrums.com Jay’s sales and images of his collection, memorabilia and an archive of things he’s sold. He’s usually buying.
SonorMuseum.com Scott Logdon’s very thorough site about everything Sonor for Sonor geeks. Catalog scans, a forum, badge chart, videos, oddities. Scott is the man!

$49 seems to be the magic number for NSMD back issues during this pandemic, so I’ve lowered the price of the collection of 30 NSMD print magazines again. $49 plus $14 USPS flat rate shipping = $63 for all the NSMD back issues still in print. They won’t be around forever, so get them while they last.

Please remember to vote on election day, November 3rd. Let’s elect someone who appreciates music and the arts.
