Allow me to introduce you to my Rare 1959 Slingerland Drum Kit No. 27!
This outfit is very interesting and rare for several reasons. To begin with, the snare drum itself is in absolutely extraordinary new condition with ZERO fade, modifications or damage.

The entire kit is exceptional because you had to not only special order Kit No. 26 and switch the drum to a No. 153 to make it Kit No. 27 but you also had to custom order it with the Sparkling Green Pearl wrap, I don’t imagine that there were many of these ordered in this configuration and far fewer, if any that survived in this immaculate condition. This may be the only one. This is also when Slingerland went to all-chrome drum hardware exclusively leaving nickel plating to the annals of history.

A few other things that put this in the unusual category that it’s in, is the fact that the badge is to the right of the throw, it’s a short lived Chicago badge, and the stand is a rare No. 805 “Buck Rogers” Flat Base Stand with all its original rubber feet & tips. Also shown and originally coming with this Kit No. 27 is the No. 956 “Standard” Practice Pad, No. 1185 Harr Record and Drum Method No. 2, No. 467 Hard Shell Case Covered with Pyroxylin Coated Alligator (Plush Lined delete), Gene Krupa Sticks & Brushes. Brand new Remo Weather King Classic Ambassador Coated Batter and Weather King Classic Ambassador Hazy Snare Side heads. Drum retains ALL of its original hardware right down to the tension rod washers and snare wires!
This is a fantastic piece of vintage drum history, art and beautiful instrument all rolled into one.
And yes, I’m going to play the heads off it!

Thanks for reading.
Stay tuned…
