These two drums came from my good friend and fellow collector Mark Cooper. Mark passed away last year and I miss his friendship, sense of humor and the great drum deals that we did over the last 15+ years. I was able to get some great snare drums from Mark. Rest in peace my friend.

Read moreMy good friend Matt Brennan owned this set. He had purchased it at the Chicago drum show a few years ago. He fell in love with them just like I did when I saw them for sale on Facebook. He had enjoyed having them and had replaced the heads. He had cleaned them up to a very nice level and had also played them some. They are not the set you would gig on every week, but for special occasions they are the ticket. Matt had bought a car that he wanted to restore and he looked around at his treasures to see what he could turn in to cash for the project. I have done it many times myself. I have also sold things I wish I had kept.

Well, Mark Cooper comes through again with this excellent example of a Silver Sparkle Model Hollywood Ace Radio King. Mark finds a lot of Radio Kings that are always in very good-excellent condition. This one will be added to the “Mark Cooper” wing of the Curotto Collection.
Read moreDuring Slingerland’s pinnacle time of manufacturing a drummer could actually request a special color order that they envisioned. Some of these orders produced were for a "mono" or one solid color lacquered painted finish. These unique finishes were much more uncommon to find on Slingerland drums of this vintage era. Here are four examples of Slingerland Radio King snare drums produced with "Solid" lacquer colored finishes.
