Video: Jake Winebrenner, the Cymbal Whisperer -Repairing cymbals with micro fusion welding

March 11, 2016 George Lawrence

Drummer Jake Winebrenner has a cool day job. He welds rocket science stuff with lasers at a high tech welding shop. He tried repairing his broken cymbals with light a while back and it worked! Jake has made quite a splash in Nashville repairing cymbals for pro drummers and, in most cases if they get to Jake before a small crack turns in to a big one, he can make it sound like knew. Jake also does all the regular cutting and drilling of cymbals as well.  He cautions that this only works on very small hairline cracks; beginning cracks in the body or bell, not on the edge. You can reach Jake at jmbwinebrenner@gmail.com
