For this months “Edward Tuckers Catalog Corner” we look at the first Geo. Way Drums Inc. late 1950s edition.

As many of you know, the Geo. Way Drums Co. would eventually evolve into Camco Drums, then DW.  Inside we can see the first Camco items being introduced for sale by the way of the first Camco bass drum pedals and the first Camco flush base hi-hat. Incidentally, both originally had leather strap drive long before the infamous Camco chain drive pedal that many of us have known and loved.

You can also see where the informal title of the “Aristocrats” of the drum world started on the very first page. In fact, they advertised an entire line of “Aristocrat” drums.

On the back cover you can see the first Geo. Way Drums Inc. endorsers. But not a single typical band drummer, mostly corps, orchestral and marching. That would change very soon as professional drummers started to hear and understand how extraordinary these drums truly were and what amazing drums they would ultimately evolve into.

This catalog and all the ones for all the years after through the entire Camco editions are a great resource for me and I do thoroughly enjoy reading them all cover to cover. An invaluable resource to our community.

Thanks for reading my Catalog Corner.

Stay tuned…
